Crystalee Calderwood is a born poet turned children’s writer, small town girl turned big city dweller. Crystalee moved from Altoona, PA, to Pittsburgh, PA, when she was twenty-two years old to attend the MFA in Creative Writing program at Chatham University. It was there she took her very first class in writing for children and adolescents, and she’s never looked back.
As a member of Literacy AmeriCorps Pittsburgh, Crystalee had the pleasure of interacting with children in the community through the non-profit organization Beginning with Books. She introduced children to great books in hopes that they would fall in love with them the way she has.
Crystalee is a December 2008 graduate of Chatham University’s MFA in Creative Writing program, with a dual emphasis in Poetry and Writing for Children and Adolescents. Her first picture book, Angeline Jellybean, is available on Amazon.com and from the publisher 4RV Publishing LLC. She is currently working on two young adult novels and submitting miscellaneous poems to journals. Duotrope.com is her best friend.

It’s so exciting that you are writing. I will have to purchase all of your children’s books for my classroom library, it would be very exciting to say I know the author! Very proud of you, keep me updated!
Thanks, Melissa! Angeline Jellybean has been out for awhile, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for another one soon. You can get it straight from the publisher’s website http://www.4rvpublishingllc.com or on Amazon.com.
Hi Crystalee, I just wanted to tell you that we are having a B&N night and teachers have to make a wishlist, and I am adding your book to my list
If not, I will be getting it, definitely! You should come in and talk to the kids! Is that your only book out, so far?
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to have a website with our name in big bold letters across the top: CRYSTALEE.
Way to be, name twin.
Always,
Crystalee
